With reference to my secret despatch of
the 31st March concerning a plot to assassinate
myself and others, I have the honour to inform you
that Mr. R.F.C. Hedgeland, Commissioner of Customs
at Canton, in a report, dated the 8th April, to the Inspector General at Peking of which he has sent me a copy, writes as follows:- "The Police Department has been informed by the Canton Foreign Office that there are certain anti-Kuomintang parties intending to jeopardize the diplomatic relations of the Govern- ment with the Foreign Powers by means of killing foreigners under the pretext of patriotic movement.
2. Secret information has just been received here that about forty bravos of the "Dare to Die Corps" came to Hong Kong today. The Hong Kong Police hope to be able to identify and capture these men. A sharp
look out is being kept.
